Letter to Times of India

Hi,

Your front page article dated 4th October, 2010 on the Commonwealth Opening Ceremony by Bobilli Vijay Kumar reported that the girl who led the Indian team wore a Naga dress. I request you to make a correction that it was a Mizo dress and also to tell your reporters to do their homework well in the future. Mizoram may not be rich in natural resources but we pride ourselves in being one of the most peaceful states in India along with the second highest literacy rate. We are also proud of our culture, including our traditional dress. It is quite belittling when you don’t spell our names right and attribute our traditional dress to another state on a national newspaper.

Regards,
A proud Mizo girl

Your post sounds like your literacy level only ends up till Standard 12 (XII).

Your post does'nt sound peaceful at all, it is filled with xenophobia, somewhat reminds me of Taliban or the isolated communist DPRK.

It is quite belittling that you cannot even speak the national language of this country, hence it gives you no right to complain that others can't spell your names right!

Remember, India is a diverse country and you have to appreciate that fact, not disintegrate it.

The foreign contingent says - "Who the hell cares if it was a Naga or Mizo dress, we just want to have a good time in India. You keep bitching among yourselves so that we can have fun".

You are bitching as if Nagaland was an another country of its own. It is 'lesser' educated people like you who divide this country internally and bring it down.

However, if the editor did made a error, all you have to do is request them to fix it and they will fix it (if you are nice).

    Grow up.
